Under the direction of the 2022 Women's Giving Circle of Howard County Advisory Board Chair Barb Van Winkle, Vice Chair Jennifer Bodensiek, Grants Committee co-Chair Candace Dodson-Reed, and WGC Executive Director Buffy Beaudoin-Schwartz - Sabina Taj and Shaista Keating were selected as the principal researchers for this project, and we appreciate their skill, expertise, and wisdom as they gathered and interpreted data from a diverse range of sources. The graphic design for and development of this website and data points was developed by Buffy Beaudoin-Schwartz. Our team worked together to collect the data into an accessible baseline portrayal of the status of women in our county.
The State of Women and Girls in Howard County is a baseline compilation of data and a resource about women from statistics published by a range of federal, state, and county agencies as well as public, private, and nonprofit organizations. In particular, the WGC is pleased to leverage and utilize information from the April 2021 Maryland Commission for Women's Maryland Women: A Status Report.
The WGC extends its gratitude to our collaborators and partners - individuals across the county who provided valuable advice, information, and data. We are grateful to agencies and nonprofit organizations that are focused on public and private-sector issues for sharing insights and data in order to improve the lives of women and girls in Howard County. And, we value the support and partnership of the Howard County Commission for Women.
We very much appreciate the funding and ongoing support of two of our founders, Barbara K. Lawson and Jean F. Moon, without whose vision and financial support this project would not have been possible. And, we appreciate the funding and ongoing support from our partners at the Horizon Foundation, United Way of Central Maryland and the Community Foundation of Howard County,
